Politics

So, if you aren't hiding under a rock these days you have seen all the advertisements for the recent midterms, you know the Republican party made a big comeback, you've heard about the Tea Party, you've listened to Glen Beck or Bill Maher, new words like "refudiate" are in your vocabulary because of Sarah Palin, and you've heard all the chatter of Barack Obama being a Muslim and a Communist.

Oui. My head hurts.

Alright, I'll be upfront and honest - registered, I'm a democrat. At heart? Hell I don't know. An independent? Maybe. More than anything lately, my political affiliation is Annoyed.

Do I support our president? For the most part, yes. Do I agree with Universal Health Care? To quote Sarah Palin: "You betcha". Did I support George Bush before Obama? Sure. Didn't agree with nearly anything he stood for, said, or did, but I kept my mouth shut, and supported him. Why? Because the position of President of the United States of America demands that support. What I don't support is the extreme-ism of both parties.

I was watching Bill Maher on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. I wanted to slap the man. He was going on and on about how "no one needed guns" and that "guns were a problem". I'm sorry Captain Extreme, but GUNS are -not- the problem, people are. Proper gun education and regulation works just fine. Sure we have our occasional wacko here and there, but guns or no guns - we're going to have that in this world.

When I first saw Sarah Palin's PAC map long before the Arizona assassination attempt of Gabrielle Giffords, I mentioned to my girlfriend how ludicrous the map was because of how it seemed to put targets on people. Low and behold, we now have one maniac, several people killed, and one representative nearly assassinated. Sarah's response?

"We never ever, ever intended it to be gun sights.", "Don't retreat..RELOAD!", and "It was simply cross-hairs that you would see on a map."

Excuse me? I know I'm not the sharpest tack in the box, but I'll be damned if I've ever seen sights that weren't on guns, or gun related. Furthermore, in almost 25 years on this planet, there's only one single map in this entire life that I've seen with cross-hairs on it, and it was yours Sarah. Get real. You want to run for president? Don't think so. Either you're too stupid to realize how dumb your map was, or you genuinely think that cross-hairs belong on a map targeting people.

My point in all of this is simple - whether you be Democrat, Republican, or Independent - it's time to stop all of this extremist garbage. It's time to think for ourselves and not listen to some over-paid yuppy that think they are gods gift to politics. Let's get over this socialist, communist, he-said, she-said garbage and take back our damn country.

Enough of the drama, more of the "for the people, by the people".
